Special Needs Planning
THE BEST TIME TO PLAN IS NOW
Special Needs Planning
Many people have children, grandchildren, siblings or other family members with special needs. They may be adults or minor children. They may be currently receiving government benefits or they may need to qualify for them in the future. You may wish to leave them an inheritance, but you need to be careful because there are strict limits on the amount of assets a person may possess in order to receive government benefits such as SSI, SSDI, or Medicaid. If you leave them an inheritance without the proper planning, it could cause a loss or disruption of their public benefits, or it may make it very difficult for that person to obtain public benefits when the need arises.
Fortunately, there are planning techniques like Special Needs Trusts and ABLE Accounts that allow you to leave assets to your loved one with special needs, so that you can provide for them, without jeopardizing their benefits.
I can help you with this. I would be happy to talk with you about your personal situation. I can explain the differences between Special Needs Trusts and ABLE Accounts, and tell you how they work. I work on a flat fee basis so you know exactly what the cost will be.
